We have an important update regarding our morning arrival procedures for the remainder of the semester. Starting the morning of Thursday, March 12, 2026, East Hamilton will begin piloting new walkthrough safety screening technology.
We are proud to be one of the first schools in Hamilton County chosen for this program. This initiative is about staying ahead of the curve and fulfilling our highest priority: keeping you safe while ensuring your school day remains welcoming and focused on learning.
Note: There are no specific concerns or threats at our school. This technology is a proactive step toward maintaining a secure campus.
How the Process Works
These devices are designed for accuracy and speed—similar to the scanners you see at major concerts and sporting events. To keep the lines moving and ensure everyone gets to class on time, we need your help!
Pre-Scan Checklist: What to Remove
To prevent the alarm from sounding and keep your morning flow uninterrupted, please have the following items ready to be passed around the scanner or placed on the side table:
- Chromebooks and Laptops
- Three-Ring Binders
- Metal Water Bottles
- Umbrellas
Note: Tables will be set up in the foyer area for you to quickly remove these items from your backpack before you step through the scanner.
What if the alarm goes off?
Don’t worry! If the alarm sounds, an adult will ask you to:
- Step back and check your bag for any forgotten metal items.
- Walk through a second time.
- If the alarm sounds again, you will move to an auxiliary lane where a staff member will help you complete a quick search of your belongings to identify the item.
